Cyber Monday breaking records — here’s what people are buying

IBM Smarter Commerce has reported the following as of 6:00 PM Eastern time on Cyber Monday:

Cyber Monday 2011 online sales are 15% of same period last year

Mobile data is as follows:

  • Mobile Traffic: The number of consumers using a mobile device  to visit a retailer’s site is 11.85 percent.
  • Mobile Shopping: The number of consumers using their mobil device to make a purchase is 6.67 percent.
  • Mobile Devices: iPhone continues to lead all mobile device traffic at 4.66 percent, followed by Android at 3.7 percent and  iPad at 3.12 percent.
Paypalsaid that as of 11:00 AM PST, it’s experiencing a 514% increase on mobile payment volume compared to last year.

Pricegrabber.com had some specific information on what is being purchased:

 On Sunday, traffic across the following categories increased compared to 2010:

  • Electronics were up 26%
  • Computers were up 20
  • Clothing was up 13%
  •  Sporting goods were up 32%
  • Video games were up 56%
