Snapchat, the photo-sharing app where pictures disappear after they are viewed has reportedly turned down a $3 billion buyout offer from Facebook. Facebook — which bought Instagram last year for $1 billion — built its own disappearing photo sharing service called Poke, but it hasn’t[ caught on.
Snapchat, on the other hand, is doing well, especially with teens who love the ephemeral nature of the photos. Of course, as we point out in A Parents’ Guide to Snapchat, there are ways to capture the screen and even undelete pictures so kids need to still be careful not to post anything that can get them into serious trouble. Still, there are plenty of ways to have fun with your clothes on using Snapchat.
Here is CNET’s coverage of the reported buyout offer and here’s a story from the New York Times.
