I met my roommate Peter the day I moved into Reiber Hall, when I was a freshman at UCLA oh so many years ago. Many years later, my son Will moved into the same dorm only he already knew who we was rooming with. The university had assigned him a roommate during the summer. But now students at about 50 U.S. universities can choose their roommate before they get to school thanks to a Facebook plugin called RoomSync.
