Dear friends,

It’s been about a week since I left Valley Glen for my new home in Palo Alto. I can’t lie. I do miss Carol and Bilbo, but I like my new home. I have a yard to run around in as much as I want and I get taken on walks every day. Patti has been mixing my old kibble with the same food Yuri eats (really good lamb stuff they get from local pet store) plus she mixes in some yummy canned food. I don’t know for sure, but I think she sneaks in my medicine in the food. They’re feeding me twice a day, hoping to get me into a routine and really hoping I stop pooping and peeing in the middle of the night. Last night — for the first time — I slept the entire night without waking them up at 3:00 AM. They let me out at 7 AM to run around the backyard and have my breakfast with them sitting there eating theirs.
On the way to Palo Alto they stopped in Oxnard to charge their car and get me a new collar and a name tag with both their numbers and they’re daughter’s too, just in case I get lost. They’ll get me a local dog license this week. I didn’t mind the car ride or the night in a motel. I love that their car has “dog mode” because when they had to leave me there for just a few minutes, the temperature stayed at 70 degrees and there was a notice on the big screen in their car that displayed the temperature said “My owner will be right back.” I got to ride in the car again a few nights ago to listen to music at an outdoor place while they had dinner with friends. The waitress brought me a bowl of water.
Palo Alto is cooler (temperature, that is) than Valley Glen and there are lots of dog-friendly people that we meet on our walks. There are also lots of dogs in the neighborhood I get to interact with. I get along with other dogs and enjoy their company. Lots of new smells too.
I’m trying to get to know Yuri. He’s old and stuck in his ways but he’s starting to warm up to me. He sniffs my butt and has even licked me a couple of times. He’s mostly stopped growling at me, but Patti and Larry never leave us alone together. They’re always nearby — just in case.
That’s it for now. Thank you for all you did for me when I was in Los Angeles.
Love,
Pooh
